👆 👆 👆 Have you taken the Diversity in Int 👆 👆 👆 Have you taken the Diversity in Interior Design Survey Yet? 👆 👆 👆 [ link in bio]

The BIID is running for the first time ever, a survey in order to better understand diversity in the Interior Design Industry.

They have asked for every BIID member to complete this survey and give true and honest feedback on their experience of getting into the design industry. They want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly, so to speak.

I reached out to the BIID and asked if I could forward this on to Metier Members and any designer who is neither a Metier Member nor a BIID Member and they enthusiastically replied YES, PLEASE DO!

"Non-BIID members can definitely take part in the survey. We would be so grateful if you could send this on to as many people as you can as we really need the data to be reflective of the entire industry, and we know that not every designer is a member with us. Thank you so much."

It is vital that we understand what designers are going through when trying to break into the design industry... and we've all been there and done that ..... but the reality is that designers of colour have had a much tougher time of it.

👆👆👆So, in order to be able to help a key industry body, and thereby the industry itself, understand the changes which are required - could you please share your own experience via this survey. 👆👆👆

The survey will only take 5 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

(All data will be processed in accordance with the BIID Privacy Policy.)

🌟 YOUR ACTIONS 🌟

✔️ Complete the survey

✔️ Tag another designer for them to feedback as well.

✨Supplier Shout-out time✨ Today I’m so plea ✨Supplier Shout-out time✨

Today I’m so pleased to be giving a supplier shout-out... or more of a New Artist shout-out really... to the young and talented Sola Simpson who has curated a collection of really cool graphic art prints.

These really cool dynamic prints are limited editions, would look amazing in a set of 6 and ..... a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity The Black Curriculum.

Whether you have heard of this charity or not, it’s really worth checking out and spreading the word.

The Black Curriculum is a social enterprise founded very recently in 2019 by young people, with the aim to address the complete lack of black British history in the current UK curriculum.

The Black Curriculum provides teacher training and campaigns through mobilising young people, in order that we, as a society, can facilitate social change.

💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

So in the interests of being a white ally, could I suggest next steps as:

1. Follow @solasimpsonart to check out this young man’s awesome talent. I said to him back in July that we need to see more females in his art 😂 and he’s happily obliged. Can’t wait to see what he does next!

2. Follow @theblackcurriculum to check out the amazing work that this charity is doing and share it forward.

3. Tag an interior or lover, a friend or colleague who you think would appreciate the art and charity.

How do you choose which Instagram Planning softwar How do you choose which Instagram Planning software to use?

So I’ve just come out of a Instagram seminar that I run weekly for designers and we were chatting heaps about the many and various Planners that are out there.

PlannThat
Planoly
Later
Unum
Buffer

... are just some to name a few.

Some provide insights and analytics. Others provide hashtag group organisation. Some enable automatic posting, others just allow you to schedule the post, then send you a push notification.

For me, I put a lot of stock into the interface. The feel of a software and how I interact with it goes a long way to whether I’m going to continue working with it.

Functionality is also key.
- The ease of being able to store media and access it easily.
- being able to create groups of hashtags and access them easily.
- being able to review stats on which post has done well and understand why

Being able to auto post is not a major boon personally.

I’m the Queen of Typo’s. So even if I draft a post, I appreciate being forced to check things over one last time... even if I don’t always catch the typo’s 😬😂

👇let us know which planner are you using and why? 👇
