So this morning, I’ve been listening to a podcas So this morning, I’ve been listening to a podcast on @sophierobinsoninteriors website on Diversity in Design. Wow! I’ve been trying to figure what to say. I think I must be incredibly naive to think that skin colour doesn’t come into interior design. Design is design! Yes it is subjective as to what appeals to different people’s tastes. But in my head, good work by talented designers will be apparent .... no matter your blooming skin colour! My reaction to listening to the pod cast held by The Great Indoors and Sophie Robinson is.... W T F? 🤯 Seriously? How can systemic racism still be happening? Here? In the UK? In the year 2020? The fact that a designer would be turned away from an internship, thwarting her chosen career.... based on the colour of her skin is frankly DISGUSTING! I’m so angry that I’m honestly struggling to think straight right now. As an Interior Designer and mentor to other designers, I am hugely saddened that this has not been REALISED, not been TALKED about, not been addressed before now. I’m so angry at myself for not realising this was happening!
