The Best of Decorex | September 2017

It’s our favourite time of year again!

As always, this year’s visit to one of the interior design industry’s leading events Decorex, filled us with excitement. It’s always a great way to get inspiration for current and forthcoming projects.

The show was awash with innovative, fresh ideas – as well as revamped trends from previous years – to inspire us here at Metier Rendezvous. Just in case you didn’t get the chance to visit yourself, we’d like to share with you our favourite trends to keep an eye out for in 2018…

The fabulous colour and bold statements blew us away!  This came through in bespoke unique furniture items as well as decorative finishes such as wallpaper. The simple detailing to the back of a chair, turning it from a functional piece of furniture into a statement piece!

Statement Lighting

Exposed lightbulbs, hugely decorative pendants, elaborate chandeliers, hand blown glass pendants…   You name it, it was at Decorex.  As all designers are aware, getting the lighting right in any home is key.  This can only be achieved through a perfect balance of natural light, ceiling lights, floor and table lamps.

The right lighting plays a huge part in the creation of any space.  So it was winderful to see plenty of designs and styles at Decorex, combining both decorative and functional aspects.

Velvet

From bright-green sofas to mustard cushions, velvet was EVERYWHERE this year.  It’s certainly having its moment in the spotlight. This go-to, versatile fabric is a gorgeous addition to any room.  It’s strokability (which is so incredibly hard to resist!) certainly adds to the wow-factor to any upholstered item.

Art Deco Glamour

Originating in France post-WW1, this trend has been making a comeback recently and at Metier Rendezvous, we are so excited about it! Traditional styles and furnishings have been brought into the 21st Century through the fusion of modern patterns and colours. Geometric patterns, bold colours and brass accents were unavoidable at Decorex.

Floral Fabrics

Think floral and foliage patterns and motifs…  However Floral patterns have been revamped into a newer, more stylish trend that can be used in textiles in both traditional and contemporary-styled homes. They really add a soft and feminine touch to any space.

Statement Wallpaper

There was definitely an emphasis on texture and pattern in design at Decorex this year. Luxury wallcoverings and wallpapers is a great way to add interest to your walls and at Metier Rendezvous, we love nothing better than a statement wallpaper. Whether you’re into palm leaves, monkeys or floral designs, there is no better way to add decorative interest than through a beautifully-designed wallpaper.
